What is Marketplace & Academy?

Marketplace & Academy is a four-day trade show and education conference featuring industry thought leaders and hands-on product demonstrations. The conference draws more than 450 exhibits and includes more than 30 hours of education.

Who attends the Academy education sessions?

ASTRA’s annual Marketplace & Academy brings independent retailers, manufacturers, inventors and sales representatives together from the independent toy retail industry to learn and network in the Academy education sessions. The attendees in the Academy education sessions may include any or all the attendee types from all over the United States and beyond!

What would you find in an independent toy store?

An independent toy store is an integral part of their community. Neighborhood toy stores stock quality products that support play across the lifespan. They have a staff of experts that can help select the perfect gift for a birthday or celebration and find products for kids (and adults) to expand play and meet milestones.

What is the submission date for speaker applications?
The due date for speaker applications is Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:59 pm.

What is the policy for speaker expense reimbursement?

All speaker honoraria, expense reimbursement, and registration fee waivers must be agreed upon in advance, reviewed and approved by ASTRA.

The following guidelines enable speakers at ASTRA’s Marketplace & Academy annual conference to determine their individual eligibility for reimbursement and honoraria:

  1. Members of ASTRA are not eligible for travel or lodging reimbursement or honoraria. Full conference registration fee may be waived in some cases. 
  2. Speakers who are not members of ASTRA may be eligible for the following:
    • Registration fee waived
    • Travel and lodging expense reimbursement
    • Honoraria/speaker fee
